Hon’ble Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. M. L. Jat visited ICAR-RCER, FSRCHPR Ranchi on 10 Sept 2025. DG, ICAR was accompanied by Dr. D. K. Yadav, Esteemed DDG, Crop Science.

During the interaction, DG, ICAR engaged with scientists and staff and urged them to work as a team, emphasizing the need to assign dedicated state-wise teams of scientists in the Eastern Region to work in a participatory mode, thereby ensuring the institute’s mandate is effectively achieved. He further highlighted the importance of improving efficiency and impact through the “One Team, One Task” approach, aimed at creating greater visibility and tangible outcomes across the entire Eastern Region. He also underlined the need to explore collaborative opportunities with nearby ICAR Institutes in prioritized areas of research and education.

DG, ICAR visited the exhibition showcasing innovative technologies developed by the Centre, including released varieties, grafting technology, solar-operated machines, medicinal plants, and a range of other farmer-centric technologies. He appreciated the Centre’s efforts in developing region-specific solutions, particularly for the hill and plateau region of Eastern India.

In his presence, an MoU was signed with an ABI incubatee on “Commercial Production of Swarna Vasundhara,” a vegetable soybean variety. On this occasion, Mr. Shrawan Kumar, a progressive farmer, shared his success story of becoming an entrepreneur through collaboration with FSRCHPR in seed and planting material production. DG, ICAR appreciated his achievements, stressing that such farmers are the nation’s pride, and encouraged efforts to nurture more farmer-entrepreneurs through research and innovation. DG, ICAR also interacted with Mrs. Albina Ekka, a budding entrepreneur, who shared her success story and highlighted her association with the Centre. He also interacted with progressive farmers of Ranchi district, Jharkhand. To mark the occasion, DG, ICAR planted a sapling in the premises of the Centre, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and commitment to future generations.

The event was graced by Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director, ICAR-IIAB, Ranchi, Dr. Vishal Nath Pandey, OSD ICAR-IARI Jharkhand, Mr. Vikas Kumar, Director, SAMETI, Jharkhand, and Dr. Shivendra Kumar, Former Head, FSRCHPR, Ranchi.

Dr. Anup Das, Director ICAR-RCER, Patna, appraised Secretary DARE & DG, ICAR about the activities of the Centre, while Dr. Awani Kumar Singh, Head of Ranchi Centre, shared his views and proposed the formal vote of thanks.
