Awareness Programme on Balanced Fertilizer Use and Farm Mechanization under Khet Bachao अभियान

As part of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan, a team of scientists and officials from ICAR–Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER), Patna, visited Mahangupur Village in Phulwari Sharif Block, Patna today to interact with farmers and create awareness about sustainable and efficient crop production practices.

The team comprised Dr. Prem Kumar Sundaram, Senior Scientist, Dr. Manibhushan, Principal Scientist, and Shri Ravi Ranjan, Technical Officer. During the interaction, the experts emphasized the importance of the balanced and judicious use of fertilizers for improving crop productivity while maintaining soil health.

The scientists highlighted the significance of soil testing as a scientific tool for determining nutrient requirements and optimizing fertilizer application. Farmers were encouraged to adopt soil test-based nutrient management to reduce input costs, enhance fertilizer use efficiency, and prevent nutrient imbalances in the soil. Farmers were informed about the substantial government subsidy provided on each bag of urea to create awareness about its judicious and balanced use.The team also discussed the role of farm mechanization and precision agriculture technologies in reducing fertilizer consumption and improving nutrient-use efficiency. Farmers were informed about the benefits of modern farm machinery and precision fertilizer application techniques that ensure the right amount of fertilizer is applied at the right place and at the right time.

The programme generated active participation from farmers, who discussed various issues related to soil fertility, fertilizer management, and modern agricultural technologies. The experts addressed their queries and encouraged them to adopt scientific and sustainable farming practices for higher productivity and profitability. The programme witnessed the participation of 35 farmers, including 9 women farmers.
