More Interaction-More Learning: Dr. R.R. Burman
An enriching interaction session was organized at the IARI Patna Hub for the students, graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. R.R. Burman, Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Kalyan Ghadei, Head of the Department of Extension Education, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), as the Guest of Honour.
The session was welcomed with enthusiasm by Dr. Anup Das, Director of ICAR RCER, who spoke highly of Dr. Burman’s invaluable contributions to the field of agricultural extension. Dr. Das emphasized how the vast experience of Dr. Burman would be instrumental in equipping students with practical insights to address the challenges they may face in real-life scenarios., followed by an insightful presentation by Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, who highlighted the achievements of IARI Patna students across academic, research, and extracurricular domains.
In his motivational address, Dr. R.R. Burman encouraged students to embrace the IARI identity with pride, urging them to rise to challenges and live up to the institute’s legacy. He emphasized the importance of self-preparation, referring to the need to identify and read key textbooks, be proactive in interaction sessions, and adopt a problem-solving mindset in learning. He also stressed the value of regular interactions—both in class and with farmers—as a means to deepen practical knowledge. Dr. Burman proposed the organization of online interaction sessions to maintain continued engagement and guidance.
Prof. Kalyan Ghadei provided an inspiring perspective on agriculture’s global relevance, citing that 43% of global projects and 51% of startups are linked to agriculture. He urged students to uphold the standard set by IARI and distinguish themselves through academic excellence, practical learning, and innovation.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Banda Sainath, expressing gratitude to the guests for their valuable insights and encouragement.
