ICAR-RCER and BIT Patna Sign landmark MoU to Revolutionize Smart Farming with AI and IoT

In a landmark move to drive innovation and technological advancement in Indian agriculture, ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCER), Patna, and Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Patna campus, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at ICAR-RCER, Patna.
This was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Dr. Anup Das, Director of ICAR-RCER, and Dr. Anand Kumar Sinha, Director of BIT Mesra, Patna Campus, alongside distinguished faculty members of BIT Mesra like Dr. S.K. Sinha, Dr. Ratnesh Kumar Mishra, Dr. K.P. Tiwari and Heads, Scientists, and Researchers from ICAR-RCER, Patna.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anup Das highlighted the transformative potential of technology in modern farming. “The future of agriculture lies in the seamless integration of advanced technologies. AI-driven analytics, IoT-based monitoring, and smart automation can revolutionize precision farming, optimize resource utilization, and address climate challenges. This collaboration is a step towards creating a future-ready agricultural ecosystem for the benefit of farmers and the nation,” he stated.
Echoing this vision, Dr. Anand Kumar Sinha emphasized the partnership’s role in bridging the gap between academic research and practical agricultural applications. “This MoU will pave the way for interdisciplinary research and technological interventions that will define the future of smart agriculture,” he remarked.
On this occasion, Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya, Head of the Division of Land and Water Management, stressed the significance of AI, Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning, and IoT-based irrigation systems in modern farming, underscoring their potential to revolutionize water management.
The program commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr. Abhay Kumar, PME Cell Incharge, setting the stage for collaborative discussions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Arti Kumari, expressing gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions. The successful execution of the event was ensured through the dedicated efforts of CAO Shri Pushpanayak, FAO Shri Rajat Das and all scientists of Division of Land and Water Management, including Dr. Bikash Sarkar, Dr. Shivani, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Dr. Manibhushan, Dr. P.K. Sundaram, Dr. Ved Prakash, Dr. Pawan Jeet, and Dr. Arti Kumari.
